JOEL FORD
Joel Ford emerged from the Brooklyn electronic music scene of the 00’s with the left field synth-duo Games. A collaboration with childhood friend Daniel Lopatin, Games rebranded as Ford & Lopatin and released their debut via Mexican Summer/Software. That same year, Ford launched his production career in earnest producing Lopatin’s other project, Oneohtrix Point Never. The resulting album, Replica, is a classic of the genre. While continuing to release projects as an artist, Joel has spent the past decade focused on his work as a producer, mixer, engineer and composer for projects such as Oneohtrix Point Never, How To Dress Well, Jacques Greene, Autre Ne Veut, Com Truise, Cyril Hahn, Alex Cameron, North Americans, Kirin J Callinan, Heathered Pearls, and Young Ejecta.
With his recent mix of Nintendo’s Legend of Zelda: Cadence of Hyrule (OST), Joel emerged as a premier game audio sound designer. The 2019 Nintendo release features gameplay based around the music and has been heralded by Polygon as “the best Legend of Zelda offshoot ever made.” His forward thinking blend of analog and digital processing makes him a flexible and powerful sound designer, able to move between the Music, Game Audio, TV / Advertising, Film worlds.
Joel works out of his studio in East Los Angeles owned and run by his record label, Driftless Recordings.
