DANNY KALB

As house engineer at The Boat, the Los Angeles studio owned by the Dust Brothers, Danny Kalb had the opportunity to record and mix music for artists such as Beck, Tortoise, Wilco, Karen O, Jack Johnson, Rilo Kiley and many others. While working at The Boat he met Ben Harper. Their relationship was a fruitful one lasting through four albums. His credits on those albums range from engineer/mixer to producer/co-writer.

Once established as a freelance producer, Danny took on numerous alternative rock projects such as Dreamers & Spirit Animal. In that time, he established himself as the go-to producer for modern reggae charting with albums from The Green, Hirie, The Movement, The Elovaters, Giant Panda Dub Squad, The Expendables and others. Danny splits his time between mixing/programming at his home studio and hitting the road for full productions.

In addition to production and mixing, Danny is also a mastering engineer. He mastered Steve Lacy’s Grammy nominated album “Apollo XXI” and has mastered for artists such as Thundercat, Domo Genesis, MellowHigh, Juto, and many more.
