JOEY WARONKER

Jon Joseph “Joey” Waronker is an acclaimed drummer and music producer. Rising to prominence recording and touring with both Beck and R.E.M., Waronker is currently a member of experimental rock bands Atoms for Peace and Ultraísta and tours regularly with Roger Waters.

Born in Los Angeles, music runs in Joey’s family. He is the son of legendary producer/A&R man Lenny Waronker and actress/musician Donna Loren, and his sister Anna Waronker is a songwriter and driving force behind influential indie pop band That Dog. His grandfather, classical violinist Simon Waronker, also did A&R and ran labels in the 40’s, 50’s & 60’s.

He has produced numerous acts, most notably Tamer Animals and Rituals from Other Lives, as well as albums for Yeasayer, Priscilla Ahn, Lisa Germano, Eels, and The Moth & the Flame. In addition to his produciton work, he also mixed the original music from the acclaimed Netflix documentary series Wild Wild Country.

Waronker has played on a wide range of albums since beginning his professional career in the mid-1990s. Highlights include recordings with Paul McCartney, Roger Waters, Johnny Cash, Yoko Ono, Pink, Leonard Cohen, Dwight Yokum, Thurston Moore, Daniel Johnston, Doobie Brothers, Bat For Lashes, Pete Yorn, AIR, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Richard Thompson, Gnarls Barkley, Jeff Martin’s Idaho, Brett Dennon, Benji Hughes, Tracy Chapman, Leona Ness, Sia, John Doe, Five For Fighting, Nelly Furtado, Yusuf Islam (Cat Stevens), Lisa Marie Presley, Willie DeVille, The Vines, Badly Drawn Boy, Rufus Wainwright, and R.L. Burnside.
