Joey Waronker is an acclaimed drummer and music producer. Born in Los Angeles, music runs deep in Joey’s family. His father is legendary producer/A&R man Lenny Waronker. His sister, songwriter/composer Anna Waronker, is a known for her influential indie band That Dog and scoring the hit series Yellowjackets and their grandfather, classical violinist Simon Waronker, was a noted A&R man/producer in the 1940’s, 50’s & 60’s. 

Waronker rose to prominence recording and touring with Beck and R.E.M. Waronker later joined with Thom Yorke for his solo work and formed Atoms for Peace with Yorke, Flea (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Mauro Refosco (David Byrne) and producer Nigel Godrich. He and Godrich went on to write/record two albums as the band Ultraísta while he and Refosco wrote/recorded an album for Sony as Jomoro.  Joey tours regularly as drummer for Roger Waters and most recently joined Oasis for their record-breaking reunion tour.

As producer/mixer, Joey has worked with numerous acts. Influential releases include Tamer Animals and Rituals from Other Lives, as well as albums for Yeasayer,  Lisa Germano, Eels, Priscilla Ahn, Tracy Bonham and The Moth & the Flame. In addition to his production work, he’s worked on multiple film scores including mixing the original music from the acclaimed Netflix documentary series Wild Wild Country.

A first call studio musician, Waronker’s drumming is heard on a wide range of albums. Highlights include recordings with Paul McCartney, Miley Cyrus, David Damiano, Regina Spektor, AIR, M83, Royel Otis, Norah Jones, Roger Waters, Johnny Cash, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Elliot Smith, Tegan & Sara, Tracy Chapman, Sia, Yoko Ono, Pink, Leonard Cohen, Dwight Yokum, Thurston Moore, Daniel Johnston, Bat For Lashes, Richard Thompson, Gnarls Barkley,  Nelly Furtado, Yusuf Islam (Cat Stevens), Lisa Marie Presley, Willie DeVille, The Vines, Badly Drawn Boy, Rufus Wainwright, and R.L. Burnside.
